Because I have white skin, I never wake up in the morning thinking about what subtle or crude discrimination I might have to deal with again today because of the color of my skin.

I’m starting to think of the stress of living while Black in our white supremacist American society as being like navigating a live minefield.

I believe the future and soul of America depends on white people acknowledging that we’ve planted all those minefields for everyone who isn’t white. We have to tell the truth before we can begin to atone for our cruel sins.
